What is Graffiti

Can an art gallery be placed in a subway station?
Crazy it might seem, to have skilled, talented artists paint the walls of a building or bridge.
Any pedestrian walking in a city or urban area has probably seen vibrant colorful works of graffiti decorating buildings, bridges and subways.
Some individuals may consider the spray-painted works of graffiti simply as vandalism lashing out on government authority it can’t be denied that graffiti has gained notoriety and recognition in the professional art world.
Famous graffiti artists are respected in the same way as other professional artists, Keith Haring’s work can be found in the Museum of modern art, He is known for his large scale graffiti work in a New York City park entitled “Crack is Wack”.
“Banksy” is another graffiti artist from England who produces his work anonymously, he creates political works promoting peace and change and Shepard Fairey who created the iconic Obama poster. These well-known graffiti artists as well as many others prove that graffiti is more than just a break of the law, but actually statement art.

What is NOT Graffiti
Tagging is not an acceptable form of street art.
I does not take talent or expression to write someones name or nickname on public buildings.
